International Conference
Dedicated to Cladocerans
At the beginning of October, I visited the picturesque town of Verbania, which hosted the international Cladocera XII conference, dedicated to the latest discoveries in the biology, ecology, and genetics of cladocerans. I had the opportunity to present the results our team obtained while studying the trophic relationships between Daphnia and their predators in former military training areas.
Alongside talks and poster presentations showcasing fascinating research on the use of cladocerans as model organisms in cellular biology, ecology and evolution, developmental biology, and toxicology, the programme also featured findings on newly described species.
Besides unforgettable experiences and inspiring discussions, it was also my first opportunity to discover firsthand what is expected of young researchers at established international scientific meetings.
Finally, I would like to thank my supervisor, who gave me the opportunity to attend an event of this kind so early in my university studies – exactly one week after the start of my very first semester :) Thanks, Adam!
